Steve you completely undersold the finish on that bass... it is very cool looking.

Oh, that statement is plural also so can you elaborate or do you want to keep it a secret for now?

Not a huge difference, but to me when broken in these strings seem like what you are looking for.

I think the flash and angle is kicking out the figuring more. It's darker in person. I can't do photos like Patrick, Omer or Lee... I'm lucky if the lens is pointed in the right direction .

LOL - sorry not really trying to be coy, just didn't want to come across like I was bragging or anything. Honestly I had to make some moves to get the deposits together but I wanted to get them in before the new year. Needless to say cash will be tight for a little while.

I was going to just make one "super build" but I kept going back and forth on what finish and options, so I just decided to go for it and get separate builds.

First one is a pretty standard NS-6XL. Black cherry gloss, stock 45DC's and 18v. Originally thought about ebony on this, but after some discussion here and with PJ I decided to stick with the pau ferro. This one is going to have a "thin" neck option so hopefully it will play similarly to the Webster.

The other is an NS-5XL. I really came close to going for a 35" scale NS-2 for BEAD tuning, but even when I'm not using the G string a lot, it feels better when it's there. Since I have the used blue NS-5XL with DC's and 18v, I decide to try to make this one as close to an NS-2 in sound as possible. So it's going to have a US 9v and the 40P5 and 40J pickups. I can always drop DC's in later to experiment. Here's the fun part: ultraviolet high gloss with the BEM board. I'm not too worried about the difference in tone between a pau ferro and BEM board so I went with the BEM because it's just too sexy not to have one.

Depending on how much I can make from selling the Euros I'll be moving in the summer and some other stuff I have to sell (non-music related), I *may* try to get another build in towards the end of the year. I'm thinking a fretless with your NAMM green glossed with an ebony board. Oh mama....

EDIT: Oh and before anyone asks - gold hardware.

There's a Wikipedia article on it. Basically a very polyrhythmic offshoot of progressive metal. Most djent bands don't consider themselves djent, just progressive- it's a term used more by fans to differentiate a certain sound from other prog metal.
I'm a pretty big djent fan, but if your not into harsh vocals it might not be for you.
Actually, TesseracT uses mostly clean vox, so they might be worth checking out to get your feet wet so to speak. They use very minimal growling vox- like, one section or two per album

Thanks man - I'm going to have to setup a video camera for the unboxing. I think I may pass out.

Cool! Thanks! It was this huge discussion when I was picking up the SSD that started with why Howard Jones left Killswitch Engage and then went into all this other stuff and I was way, way, way out of my depth. And judging from the extreme drop tunings, probably out of my hearing range as well...

Glad to be of service! It's really only meshuggah and a few others who go super low- the lowest I listen to is most of periphery's stuff which is drop G#. Much lower than that and I'm afraid someone will hit the brown note lol

Good to know. Now, the important question. Will the B string be brought up to tension before the fat part hits the post, or after? I've had issues with some string sets (mostly GHS) running out of winding room before playing tension is reached.
