Here is the SPECTOR in question. It is a bolt on, but it is a reasonable price for what it is ..... http://www.bassspecialties.com/colle...r-ns-5-natural

Oh well, another 12 months or so & I'll be able to order an NS-2. Still love the UV finish, but I'm considering the ultra amber & green stain as well... | The sold tag was for GuitarHouse.net buying it. It is still available from us. |

As stated above by cjmodulus; Spectors are known for their bite and growl, but it is possible to coax mellower sounds out of them.
I agree,
I can get nice Motown tones out of them, and you could always swap the preamp or pickups if its too aggressive for you. You will love the smaller body and neck on the Wimbish model if you are coming from a Std type J Bass. | I didn't realize until recently that the Wimbish model had the 1.5" neck. That's a big plus as I love J necks.
I think once I get a bit of money put away I will head to Chicago and check some stuff out. I believe Bass Club stocks some Spectors so I could at least get a feel for them. I played a US five string 15 years ago and a Kramer era one about 20 years ago but honestly I can't remember much about either other than the US one was stunningly beautiful!
Thanks for the info, much appreciated!

Pickup spacing is a bit odd, someone mentioned in the NAMM thread. Is the P pickup closer to the bridge?

I can't think of any other boutique neck thru US bass with a pedigree like Spector that you could get new for 2700. hell, my mike lull was 2300 new (and worth it) and its a passive bolt made with sourced components.

3) Reverse P, cuz that's how Spector rolls. Add an optional J pickup too
Also, I would totally save up to get one! | No P option for Coda yet. Believe me...I've been in touch with PJ and chewing his ears off. Lol The Original NS-1 & SD-1 started with one single P pickup.

Thoughts? And, yes, I know it needs to be cleaned, but I haven't had the time to unstring it. | Try adjusting the truss rod a little to bring the strings closer to the frets. A little adjustment goes a long way. Here's the page on spectorbass that shows about neck adjustment and strings are on another page same section. http://www.spectorguitars.com/support/setup_relief.html

I have a 2008 Euro 5 and i can't seem to get a low enough action without having to deal with constant buzzing, even when playing with a very light touch. I'm usually an aggressive player and i know how to set it up, so i'm wondering if the real problem here is fret wear. I'd really appreciate if anyone could post their string height at the 24th fret and the relief, and some info on their playing and if there is buzz or lack thereof, so i can understand if the problem is the instrument or if it's me . Thank you! |

Is the intonation right? Might need some relief in the neck(truss) and reset the saddle height and intonation. Relief at the nut should allow you to bring the saddles down.

I still get buzzing on the 22nd fret, but I think that one just needs to be levelled.

| | Love one woman; many basses | | Join Date: May 2010 Location: Long Beach, CA | | | NBD! My first Spector Ok, so it's not the custom NS-2A that Patrick was sharing with me at NAMM, but I figured this would be a good way to get in to the mix. It's an older (I think 2008) Legend in slate gray. Guy brought to my gig last night, I played a few songs with it, and ponied up my gig money. Not a bad deal, if you ask me...
Sounds great, but I'll need to do a fret-job to remove some sprouting. I really do like the size and weight; the curved back will take a little bit of getting used to...
That's about it - thanks!
