Bass -> Avalon U5 (XLR out) -> RME interface
Bass -> Avalon U5 (thru out) -> RBI -> Mackie mixer -> RME interface
So basically, the "thru" of the Avalon is feeding the input of the RBI. I did have the Active to Thru button engaged which sends the "wet" signal of the U5 through to the RBI.
So as I played back I noticed that I really didn't seem to hear much of the bite of the RBI and all I was hearing for the most part was lower frequency stuff. I decided to try phase inverting one of the tracks and BAM there was all the sound that was missing.
So here's my question: I was under the impression that inverting phase on one of two tracks that are near identical would usually cancel out the sound, but in this case it would seem the tracks were some how already inverted. I have to do some more analysis of the waveforms and also try with the Active to Thru disengaged.
I'm just concerned now that by using the phase inversion on one track I may still be losing some of the frequencies. I suppose I can look at driving the U5 with the RBI into one track but I wanted the ability to mix the two to taste.
In both cases I was using the left channel input of the sound card for the bass. |

Omar- Your photos of that beautiful instrument are real pro looking. And that Pelican case fit's 'em like a second skin ... Looks like the way to travel!

I figure the Spector case is always a solid bet, but was wondering if anyone else had any good experiences with other brands. | Gator cases. They are super-strong, and have a pad that presses down on the strings.

They have HSC that are made by the same manuf. as Spector but only cost $58-68.00. They're not form fit but my 5ers fit really good.
