I think both companies make great basses and its really the people who buy them that make the difference. I'm sure everyone has their reasons for whatever, but play what you like. The who copied who thing is redundant and tiring. As Patrick said, a dead horse. We know the story and its old news. Spector and Warwick are very successful companies because they both make great basses that are built to last a lifetime. Now all little kids quit bickering and go on playing your football game.

Amos, I really wasn't trying to speak so much about the wick vs Spector thing. I've just got a burr on my butt about how society thinks these days......that's all......sorry guys and gals, I'm just torqued up on the concept of critical and logical thinking and not playing " follow the leader" and again....I repeat.....this is not aimed at the Spector,vs Warwick thing or any individual here in our club.....carry on....lol

And yes, you are right....it's about the people who play the instruments, not necessarily the brand....I do not care for Gibsons, but it does not, make a Gibson player a bad guy in my eyes.....

I've been promoting this for years! Think for yourself, not how others tell you to. Learning skills like math, science, history & language fundamentals are one thing, but progressively learning & exploring new things is another. This isn't touted in ANY education system. It's rather sad. I work with a kid who went through private school. He's been so brainwashed into accepting what he's told instead of questioning & learning why things are a certain way that we butt heads whenever something goes wrong and a solution needs to be found. Good kid, but doesn't use his brain.

No Jamie, I didn't take it that way at all. I understand completely what you're saying. It's all good man and as bass players, we should be united in that playing the bass rules, because without us, guitarists would sound like dooky and drummers would be lost . But I'm a nutshell, the company bashing thing really turns me off to that perticular company. It shows fear and jealousy. Owners from all bass companies should be proud of what they play because its WHAT THEY LIKE!!!!

I shot video after the NAMM Show (on Friday of the show) in Cerritos, CA of Spector Artist and Clinic Instructor Dave Fowler giving an EXCELLENT clinic on being a professional, working bassist that doesn't actually read standard musical notation.

Dave said in his clinic something I've said myself 1000x and I was SO happy to hear him say it... Music comes from the MUSICIAN... not the instrument they are playing. Thinking about it like that, his next comment mirrored my own almost identically, "You owe it to yourself to play as many different basses as you can try and get the one that best fits the sound you hear in your head."

So here was a clinic being sponsored by Spector, featuring a 20+ year Spector Artist, and HE DIDN'T PUSH PRODUCT.

He had a lesson to teach and he did so very, very well. He encouraged questions and he encouraged the participants of the clinic to ask themselves questions about their goals and what they want from being a bassist.

THIS is the true spirit of what musicians should share with one-another.

Not "Play this bass or that amp" But focus on what is really at the heart of it all... it's all about the music.

Regarding the Spector/Warwick thing... let's all just try to let it go. It has been over for a long time. Let it stay there, in the past where it belongs.

It's better to focus on today and the limitless potential of tomorrow than be caught up in past events that you cannot change.

But I am happy you've got a new bass.

Hoping to take off from work in the best 30 minutes to get home to my Circle J strings at my doorstep but who knows with the crazy weather lately. Really hoping to re string and set up both of my basses with these new strings before the bands next show on the 22nd, everything I've read so far about them has been great.

Circle J? Looks like someone's cruisin' for an infringement suit! Lol

Would like to get your thoughts on them with a Spector though. I'm considering getting a set for my drop C bass, or selling the legend 6 and picking up another 5 to setup down a step...

What are the odds the day I have a box full of goodness waiting at home for me, I have to go to the dentist before I get home?

The last time I looked into Circle K strings, they had ridiculous gauges for a 5 string set. Their site had like a .045 on the B...That's TINY!!!!!
