Just one question - where did you find a Brooklyn made in 1895? | This guy brought it back for him: |

He was nice enough to let me try it, after I told him about my ReBop5DLX & NS-2000/5. His action is similar to my basses, and the neck profile is similar to my NS-2000/5, but I can't say I liked the feel near the pickups. Is it just me or do the bridge, neck & pickups sit lower in the body on the Euro than on the ReBop?? It just didn't feel like I could dig in like I can on my Bop.

When I take my basses to the tech I always tell him to leave the pickups where they are, I have them set at the perfect height now.
Don't get me wrong, my Euro 5 sounds killer when played soft, but sings when I dig in.
Makes me really excited to order the Rebop 5 when I get my tax return, I think both will have their place for me and I might end up getting rid of my Combustion 5 for it if the dingwall doesn't get much playing time. |

The pickup route recess & bridge recess seem to be deeper, and the neck doesn't stick up as high above the body. Allows the pickups to be deeper into the body, from what I noticed. Felt different.

I'm this far (hold index finger and thumb approx. one inch apart) from pulling the trigger on my dream NS-4 (Bahama Blue / BEM), and I'm curious as to how it stacks up to the "Spector U.S. 9V pre-amp circuit" overall.
The Spector site calls the NS-4 the NS-2's more powerful brother. This intrigues me! | My NS4 with the 18v is my favorite Spector (own 3, have had 6 total). All the growl with a little more low end punch. I call it "throaty" if that makes any sense.

I do find that I prefer my Sadowskys with smaller than a standard Fender body. The only basses that are a bit of an adjustment are my Mike Lull T4 (thunderbird) and Lakland Hollowbody.

Kramer-era Spector NS-2 #1276! This was THE dream bass for me for many, many years, especially considering Eddie Jackson was a huge formative influence on me. I probably would have tracked one down in the mid-90's but I had moved on to 5- and 6-string and didn't know Spector made those.
I can't say how exciting it was to play this thing tonight. I don't know if it's the mojo or the Kramer-era 9v, but this bass is doing something for me that the 9v-equipped Forte didn't do. Maybe it's the neck? And that is not a knock on Forte's at all. In fact, when I had the Forte with the 9v here, out of my several Euro's and the 5XL, the 5XL is the only I really liked better sound-wise than the Forte, and that was close. The Forte with the 9v is the real deal. This Kramer NS-2 is just a little more real.
Anyway, I proceeded to play through all of Queenryche's Empire on Jammit as well as a few other choice cuts. That low E growl - good stuff to put it mildly. Even better in drop D. I can't really add much to describe the tone that hasn't been said before - it's all true.
Big thanks to Jeff for getting it out so fast to me. It's in great shape and was in perfect tune out of the box. Still trying to figure out what kind of strings are on it - they have greenish-blue on both ends. Maybe Rotosounds?
Now I have to decide if I am ballsy enough to mod the nut for BEAD. I think I'm going to see about getting a replacement nut from Spector first. Is it considered a bad idea to modify an original part like that? | Congrats Bunk! Now all you need is a matching white one!!!!

I love the look, but I'm not sure how it would feel ergonomically...

I'm definitely a fan on the Spector NS body. If they made a US bolt-on with the fully carved body of a ReBop, I'd be all over it.

Anyways, I was browsing the Spector site and didn't see anything about oil finishes on the US basses. They are all gloss it matte poly. Does anyone know if they still offer the stain with oil finishes anymore? Thanks
