Cool thing was I didn't have to touch the nut since the slots are very shallow even though the action is super low. So the strings sit nicely in the slots and yet I was able to get the action where I wanted it with some bridge adjustments.
Was going to use the Spector brand steels but it actually looks like the thick part of the winding would come through the post so no go on that. Happened to have a set of Rotosound Drop Zones around so threw those on instead. I'll see if the CK's fit later.
So the sound - pretty impressed. I really like the way the Euro 435 sounds with BEAD but this one definitely has some more fundamental meat to it while also having a less brittle but still bright bite.
It's going to be very interesting to see how this compares to the NS-5XL with 9v and 40P5/40J that I have coming this summer. |

It ending up to be a unique color so far. We'll see how it looks after a few more coats. I think 6-7 coats of tung-oil should do the trick. The first coat really made the grain pop.

I kind of just whipped out the 435 after playing around with the Kramer most of the day so not really a fair fight.
That's one of those little riffs I would kick around checking out a bass that just kind of grew into a song. |

The 435 is very close but a little on the top/mid end of things...very cool lick and both pass the Spector test!

I like the punchy mids & sparkling highs of the NS-2, but when you hit the B, the Euro is sounding just a hair tighter on the bottom end.
Two great tracks, two great basses.
If I had to pick a fave, it would be the NS-2, but as others here have pointed out, I think only us hard-core Spector-philes would be able to hear a difference in an album or live mix.

Is one of the preamps worth $250 more?
Keep in mind its a unscientific test. I adjusted the tone knobs on the test to what ever made the bass sound good at the time. I didn't try to match them with each other. All basses have DR lo rider steels, one of them is .105-.45 the other two are .100-.40. The wood seems noticeably on each bass.
No processing on any bass. Just straight in the computer. | I really liked this test, all three are very close like I said but the HAZ and Tone pump sound cool. On the Tone pump did you change anything on the internal adjustment? does it have this adjustment dial?
