I also owned a Rex4 Pro (non holoflash) and it is a great bass. I actually miss it. Nothing wrong with the holoflash finish either, its not my cup-o-tea but its cool.
you just can't go wrong with any spector... they are all built well and sound great. | Right on Brother!!! Quote:

Don't tell any Fender folks I said this......and you'll swear this is an exageration, but it's not. I've been searching for months to find the tone I was looking for. I have a Boss GT-10B pedal board, and I've been running my Fender AMDLX through it trying setting after setting to try to get the tone I wanted. No matter I did, I just couldn't get the bite out of it. The Fender is one SMOOTH bass, I will give you that, but I couldn't get it to growl.
Well... I plugged the Spector in straight to my Carvin amp. Done. Not freaking kinding... Done. That's the tone. Right there. No amp modeller needed. Compression and a tuner and I'm done. I couldn't believe it.
So when I asked why "The Freak" Spector had been sold around TB so many times, I was told because people have GAS for bigger better Spectors... Well, don't expect to see this guy for sale ever again. Sorry everyone else! | "The Freak"...in the House!!!....FYI..strap arrives Thursday!!

Probably the most notable is Johnny April of Staind... he has the nicer models in his stead and still uses the Legends.
Edit: I know what you are saying, but I'm feisty today. | To add to this:
Jerry Scott (Molly Hatchet) - Performer 4
Colin Raye (country solo artist) - Performer 4
Bernard Harvey (Justin Bieber) - Legend 6
John Montagna (Alan Parsons Project) - ReBop 4DLX
Many artists choose to use the less expensive basses & there are big reasons behind it.
1. You can have MANY more backups in your stable for the same cash as one NS-2.
2. They like the feel more. Personally, I like the ReBop's bolt-on & body over the neckthru Euros/USAs. It's lighter and feels better in my hands.
3. USAs are a work of art and not everyone wants to risk damaging one. I wouldn't!

Most of us have a "wife" bass we won't let go, but, Now guess what, your gonna see so many amazing spectors here with different neck profiles, hardware choices, tops and colors I'm sure it won't be your last Spector. I'm finally getting around to replacing the HZs on my Rebop and I'm caught between doing something "traditional" like P/ Js or DCs or doing something a little more off the beaten path so to speak.

The j/dc was cool (yes j in the neck) and the p / dc was cool as well. Over all in the mix I liked the bolt on with the dc/dc combo best though. |

| | The guy with the dumb username... | | Join Date: Feb 2008 Location: Massachusetts | | Man, If Spector made a 31-32" scale bass and an 8-string octave bass, I don't think I would need anything but Spectors.
I'm offloading a bunch of basses still, other than the medium scale and 8-string I have a franken-MM and franken-T-bird I built that COULD be replaced by Spectors, but would cost WAY more than the increase in awesomeness it would bring.
There are Spectors for every season
(yeah they have that signature 30" scale bass but IMO 30" is too short, and for a bolt-on, it is REALLY expensive)

I'm really curious. | I have on my NS4CR - 34.5" with LaBella HRS M70 strings. They are made for tuning down. I was playing Fear Factory tunes, and I was able to play fast as ****.

The dual DC's sounded good with the 18v circuit, but I thought the DC's with the TP lacked the mid range, was hard to tame the top end and was really clanky. I was a dual DC fan on my other basses but they all had 3 band pres where I could max the mids and cut the treble. I play really hard though. Pickers or soft players might not have that issue. I could see where dual P's would be a cool tone, did not have another P to try that out. My comparison of DC's to P's or J's are like comparing Solid state to Tubes. The bottoms end is really low and boomy but lacking the warmth.

I think it's going to sound KILLER. I may swap the non-trim to a Trimpump. :P
