Spector NS-2J - Woodstock NY -

Hi,

I'm contemplating the purchase of a Spector NS-2J "Woodstock" built in 2001 (4/24/01, this is the info on the back of the headstock). The model is a bolt-on (3 pieces maple, Pau Ferro and pearl dot markers) neck and supposedly a re-issue/special edition of the 1983 NS-2JA (according to the seller).

When I browse the Spector website, production in the town of Woodstock only started in 2002 (with the NS-2J-FM & the NS-2J-EX)... so I'm kinda confuse.

Any expert out there on Spector basses that can chip in and help me get the facts straight?

Thanks!

Check out the date on my old Woodstock era Spector

I think what you may have there is a transition era SSD. Does it have a Spector logo or SSD logo?

The SSD I believe (here's a picture, correct me if I'm wrong)... your's '93?

Now I'm even more confuse. I thought the Woodstock workshop only started making bass in early 2000.

first.... that bass is hot looking. check out spectorguitars.com, he was making them in Woodstock again as early as 93 after his non-compete with Kramer expired. they call it the "Woodstock" era after he got his original logo back in 1998.

No that is the Spector logo. Quit worrying about it and buy that thing right now! That is stellar.

@mmbongo

From what I now understand, if the 3 letters are separated, it's an SSD logo so, like you just mention, this one is a Spector logo. Thanks!

@j.kernodle

I did some reading about the "non-compete clause" and the "Kramer era" but the whole thing is still a bit sketchy so I'm still learning. Thanks for the precision about when he got back his original logo.

Last question, what would be a fair price for this model in great condition (minimal wear by playing only), no case or extras?

-Quilted maple body
-Pau Ferro slab with dot marker
-34" scale/ 24 frets
-9v Aguilar OBP-1 circuit

And oh yes, is it me or you don't see them too often on the used market (or common, very common,...)?

Thanks again!

Snatch that thing up! I love my NS-2J.

And here's what the SSD logo looks like. Same quality, just different logo since Stuart couldn't use the Spector logo at the time.

Yeah, I'm about to pull the trigger.

What about the value, how much would you say that those go for (ballpark figure)?
