I am hesitant though, for two reasons: Neck profile and body routing.
Squier spec's tell me the width of the neck but not the thickness. Is it chunky?
I like to use it sans pickguard. The Sting signature has an ugly routing for the pickup wires. Is it the same with these?
Can someone fill in the gaps please?

I just took some crude measurements.
Width at nut app. 2 cm
Width at neck heel app. 2,5 cm
I liked it at first, but I'm starting to be less fond of it...

Routing is clean, I removed pickguard on mine too.
Neck is typical Pbass. I personally like It.
It sounds great, meaty, powerful. Surprisingly good slap. I put chromes on mine and it does a great classic funky souly sound with the tone rolled off some... or a great Iron Maiden with the tone open, fat with the trademark clicketyclick :-)

Anyone having problems with buzz/noise from the single-coil pickup? I love the sound of this bass but have some concern about the noise. My MIM Precision is so quiet it has me spoiled. |

I had a 2 saddle string through bridge installed. So the body had to get drilled for the ferrules. Also havin' all new wiring and pots done. Chrome bridge/pickup covers installed. And since it was cheap, I'm also havin' the guy put a 50s Fender decal on the headstock.
Can't wait to get it back.

Live, without overdrive, it should not be bothersome... there are split coil pickups, humbucking, to fit this bass, if it ever is a problem.

I can't believe my wife said yes a moment ago, because I haven't sold my hm5 or my giant scale rc plane yet. That was the deal to finance the blonde. Yes, 350 is a lot of clams right now for us. Plus that's 3 basses in 10 months. I won't sleep now. Dammit Squier and your low priced boomsticks. But I really need.a p bass.

| | | | I had the same questions, because I like them and kinda want one.
My other question is: couldn't I get the same sound when I solo the neck pickup on my Jazz? |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Jun 2006 Location: Bothell, Seattle area | | | I love mine. I didn't care for the blue ones but when I saw the natural/blonde one I put in my order and was very pleasantly surprised. Yes, the neck is chunky and at first seems kinda' too big, but then once that I got used to it (along with my Classic 50s chunky neck also) then I loved it. I hate the black pickguard, but for me, removing the pickguard would take away from that classic look, so it stays. Seriously, if the headstock didn't say "Squier" then I wouldn't believe it was one. These are great basses and I'd say on an equal par to the MIMs. |

I am thinking on replacing it (if I buy one today ) with a real bakelite one though. I kinda don't like the knobs even though they are correct. Any suggestions? Strat? Jazz? Ones that go to eleven?
EDIT: Black pearl would be killer!
