I removed the pickups and donīt remember which pickup goes on the bridge.
Thanks.
I believe green is bridge and red is neck.

Neck might be white tho, but I'm sure green is bridge. I just put in my obp3 last week. I'm not home or I'd just open mine up to check.

If you are looking for a "middle of the road" Fiver and don't mind the wide string spacing, this bass will work quite nicely. If you're willing to drop about $150 on a new preamp, you'll have a monster!

Believe that!

Hey D Man!

I have owned a Squire Jazz V for over two (2) years. It is about 90% of a good Fender with about 95% of the price knocked off. If you grew up and appreciate the Fender sound than a TBer would know what you are talking about.

I also own a Squire V defretted with an Audere and I play it almost exclusively for a singer-songwwriter gig. I am seriously thinking about recording an EP with it. Lastly, I own a Squire Jaguar Modified (full passive). Truth be told! The Squire series nails the Fender sound for a fraction of the price and the Jaguar's Seymour Duncan pickups are hotter than the other two basses! The only downside to the Squire series, WEIGHT! Inconsistent across the board and the fivers are a tad on the heavy side!

My $.02 cents!

skip the stock item - if you want to spend little $$ get a BassMods BEQ-12 or if price isnt an issue get an Aquilar OBP-3.

PPJ -

I didn't now you had one of these. I tell folks all the time, it's a really nice bass and as you can see from this VERY old thread, the secret is out.

I will say that the other Squier that is really very nice is the Affinity Jazz V. It is also a cheapie that plays a whole lot better than you would expect.

PM me your address and I'll send you my old one. Don't thank me. I was not kind to it during the removal but it seems to be all there.

I wasn't a huge fan of the preamp either and took it out pretty quick but you gotta give credit where credit is due, that pre in active scoop did Marcus Miller just about as well as it can get done.

thats a WIDE nut! my sx 6 string nut is about 2.1" and the squier seems to be about the same but with five strings instead! the sx is probably too narrow but still, yikes!

I want to hear this thing please.

I am currently looking to do the same on my bass but couldn't find vid on YouTube to see what this set up sounds like. Can you please, please, please send me a sound clip to burton78@gmail.com? It doesn't have to be a video you can record just audio from your cell phone and send it via email. I'm willing to even Paypal u a couple bucks for the effort. Please let me know ASAP.

OK - got my Deluxe V back last night. Its the companion to my black one. Hence - Darth Vadar and The Storm trooper.
Specs: All black hardware, Babicz bridge, Aurora coated black strings, Nordstrand Fat Stack pickups, Sadowsky knobs, BassMods BEQ12 preamp with active passive switch and series parallel selector. All I can say is WOW!!! Not a cheap project but worth every penny! the $200 Squier became the $1000 Squier. I will post better pics later.

I owned one of these for a few days before I discovered my brain's inability to process an odd number of strings. Damn fine tone on this thing.

Hey folks - just upgraded the tuners to Hipshot Ultralites and it has made a big difference to the balance in a positive way.
My question is has anyone converted the stock pickups to passive? How is the tone compared to the tone of the active preamp?
Secondly down the track I think I may change the pickups to either Sadowsky or Dimarzio. Which would be the better for rock with a pick? Passive, no preamp.
