Since they are relatively inexpensive nickle roundwound strings as the stock strings are, I am surprised by how much more presence these have over the original strings. The service was from Bass Strings Online was great, too. The owner is a TB member.

I'm especially wondering if the neck is easy to remove and reinstall.... Any chance of trouble doing that? The idea would be to break the bass into two smaller parts that would fit inside a carry on bag. On smaller commuter planes there is often no space in the overhead for a gig bag that's 40 inches long. I used to have a wooden Steinberger for travel and occasionally was forced to check it as baggage by unforgiving flight attendants.
How long is the bottom of neck to top of headstock?
Thank you! |

Thank you! | I think it was found to be 43 inches. As far as removing the neck, it's a standard 4 bolt neck so I presume that it's pretty simple.
Hopefully someone else will chime in. |

Still to come, Alumatone J & P pickups, Hipshot Ultralights, and the rest of the small parts. It's going to be Burgandy Mist Metallic. Jaguar Parts 1 by fj.adams, on Flickr

Hopefully someone else will chime in. | Broken down, the body as about 20" X 13", and the neck is 30".

Best of luck,
Bob

The new pickguard will replace the pickguard and control plate, and a Strat style jack will be put on. Two Tonestyler pots, two volumes and either mini toggles or slider switches for pickup on/off. Probably the sliders going for a more traditional look. Want a matching headstock, so need to find someone to make a replacement decal. Ought to be a good player, and sound good with the Alumatones.

This bass will be a great player, for sure. I'm especially interested in the sound of the Alumitones in this application. I'm currently building a custom Warmoth 30" SS and I'm looking for a hi-fi sound, so I went with EMGs. I'd like to hear your take on the Alumitones once they're installed.

I've got the (short) list:
- Dimarzio DP126 Model P+J set
- New CTS pots
- Babicz high mass bridge
- Possibly a new jack
I've also got an Orange Drop cap that a buddy gave me but honestly I don't even know what it does, feel free to fill me in haha.
Once its done this is going to be my #1 its so comfortable and light, the pups just don't give me the edge I need in the mix.
