Squier with longer nut to tuning post distance??

I've recently acquired (2) Squier Precision Bass Specials (p/j) and have notice that the distance from the nut to the E string tuning post is longer than my MIM Precision and my son's Squier Affinity P. Anyone else notice this? It actually seems to help with stringing in that my Hi Beams seat better on the post and not as much of the fat part of the string wraps around the post.

Yup ... the Squier P Spec P/J uses the same neck as the Standard Series Squier Jazz ... from nut to close side of the E post is 1 3/4" ... and on the MIM Standard it is only 1 1/4" ..

.. also, if you notice the string tree is in a different position as well, in this case closer to the nut than the MIM Standard, by about a 1/2" usually ...

... I have used both of these in identifying bogus items for sale ... most will overlook all this little stuff when they are trying to pass something off for what it is not ...
