Here's my modified Bronco. I really wanted a maple neck bass and this Bronco was the cheapest one I could find; a used 2004 for $100.
I jettisoned the electronics and strings; made a pickguard out of 1/8" hardboard and sprayed it with Dupli-Color metallic silver truck lacquer; tilted a Seymour Duncan P-Bass Quarterpounder 25 degrees to normal to line up the strings over the polepieces and mounted it Strat-fashion; wired it directly to a Switchcraft jack in a Strat jack plate; added a blind-mounted thumbrest shaped from a piece of 5/16" x 1/2" basswood; installed a Musicmaster bridge that I drilled for top loading; strung it up with LaBella flats.
Finally, I added my own logo.
This little bass has proved to be a real delight to play. |

I've been waiting to join this club for a long time, but didn't want to until my masterpiece was finished.
I promise to go back and read all 15 pages when I get the chance
Ignore the fact that it's the Pete Wentz signature.
It has a badass bridge, hipshot tuners, hipshot tree, hipshot knobs, GHS tapewounds, Seymour duncan 1/4 pounder, and Dimarzio black pickguard screws. Oh yea, and I added the thumbrest
...oh yes, and it's BEAD tuned, and the second knob is a villex passive rotary tone booster
Here's a sound-byte (I understand that the pictures my pocket PC takes, aren't very good. My sister broke the good camera). http://www.mediafire.com/?3fmvdu2tjzd

I can't speak for everyone, but I know that my squier is very very expensive now, especially after the villex guts I put in it.
and Squiers are all about having something to beat around, right?
and as a digression, it's pronounced "squweeer" not "squire", right |
