Squier VM or Squier Deluxe jazz v?
As the tittle says I'm in a bit of a bind. I have seen many reviews for both and I really like them but I seem to have really bad luck with fretted basses having scrappy frets (high frets, I can fix fret ends).
I love fretless basses and I'm inspired by bands such as Cynic, Gordian Knot, a little Jaco (only in records), Pino Palladino, Steve Bailey, so its not a new jump for me but choosing the VM means that me and my girl will have to change from B standard stunning to D standard (with a little drop C if I can put a drop tuner on the VM).
I can get both of them for 300$ but id like to see what you guys think.
First of all: remember there's a Vintage Modified Jazz V too out there...
If you ever decide within two proper models you have in your sights in a shop: I once had a Vintage Modified Jazz IV (that went under deep mods, no room to describe'em here) and tellin' you the Hipshot bass extender you need it's the BT7 model
Then I have two almost identical full black Squier active deluxe V and, lettin' B string alone (actually they're a fullstep downtuned
A-D-G-C-F and they're main giggin' basses) they're chunky but have very reliable fit and finish
I own and regularly gig a VM jazz. It's fantastic.
But I had the same problem that you do, and my solution was to order an active V also.
Or you could split the difference and get the VM Jazz V, which is also good.
