Squier vs Squier II

So, all I really know, is I've got 2 Squiers.

I've got a 1989-1990 MIK Squier II P.

I've also got a Squier Affinity P.

My Squier II has no bevels and sounds MUCH better, Is that the only difference, or are the pots different? I rewired my Squier II for new pots and capacitors but I never touched my affinity beyond the pickguard. Does someone with more experience know more?

The Squier II MIK is a good bass much better than the Affinity. To me the MIK Squiers are below the MIJ Squiers but so are allot of MIA Fenders. The pups in the MIK are better and the overall bass is just a better quality build..thats all. I have both MIJ and MIK Squiers BTW from early to late 80's.

I own a squier II precision, and it's a pretty awesome bass. the squier II's were very strange and inconsistent. some had alder bodies, some had plywood bodies(Like mine). some had fender tuners, some had gotoh style tuners. the general consensus is that MIC<MIK<MIJ

Mine is repainted metallic flake green and has one of the best necks I've ever played on a P. it's a sweet bass, but I don't know why they called them squier 2,then went back to one, that just doesn't make sense.

basically, the affinity is one of the worst made and best selling basses ever made by fender, though I'm sure they are getting better, and the squier 2 is a better made instrument made in a better asian country. squier 2's are strange instruments, and they have a 2 in their name for no reason.

One of my Squier II is alder one plywood. I think they were named Squier II from when production left Japan (Squier 1) and went to Korea..so Squier II?
The only issues on them are the maple necks are prone to bow or at least the two I have both were. The pots are the cheaper mini pots and get wanky but the bridge is higher mass and has slots... a nice feature.
