Stagg upright bass
Thinking of buying the Stagg's upright bass, any one with this bass and what do you think of it?
Assuming you mean their electric upright, i have one. Unfortunately, I'm not playing it (I haven't yet taken three time to get back into it, I played in jhs). I got mine for 50% of retail as a b- stock from Victor Litz. As it turns out the only issue was a short at the jack.
I have no point of comparison, as I have never played a "good" one. And I don't expect it to REALLY sound like a doghouse, but the longer scale length and the different strings plus piezo pickup move the tone in the right direction enough for my amateur purposes.
Although I got mine cheap, if I had paid the regular retail price, I would not feel cheated.
Sorry, I can't help more, and even though I'm not playing mine is not for sale.
They're perfectly fine instruments for their price range. I've played better EUB's, but they all cost at least 4x as much. The closest thing to a deal you'll get next to the Stagg is the Dean Pace bass, for about $100 less, and the Dean doesn't compare favorably.
