Exactly the Alembic I want. Alas, no money. Go to the Alembic forum and ask there. You may have to join first to post there though. |

It stuck out because of the dark wood knots on either side of the bass. I know neither of the sellers BTW (maybe they're the same person).
Anyway, FYI.

In my opinion, this possibility is somewhat irrelavent. That being said, we're looking at a late '70's Series I bass and the asking price is definitely in the ball park. Before I bought it, I'd want to check it out to make sure it's in full functioning order. If so, you could make an offer near his asking price and get a pretty decent deal (and a killer bass to boot).

So the one Vic has does not mean there aren't others out there.
I have no opinion on whether this particular bass was ever Stanley's.

The bass is thought to be his actual bass that can be heard on the George Duke project.
| Contact Rick Turner, he would know for sure.

| | | | I did, at one time, buy an Alembic from Alan Woody back in 1985. A Series One, it had a different top wood from the back. Seems like Pau Ferro top and black Walnut back and was a 35" scale.
I was taking lessons from Roy Voght at the time and he brought out his Alembic and we stood them on their ends and mine was an inch taller. It was an '80 model. I didn't keep it, too big, and heavy, had to carry that separate transformer and 9 pin DIN cable.
Basically, famous players do sell instruments from time to time. |

The bass in the OP was not Stanley's bass, but was one that was offered for sale here on TB in the classifieds. It stands out because of the modified bridge and the photos identical to the bass offered for sale in the TB classifieds. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
