Steinberger aficionados: Some questions....

I used to own a gorgeous XL2A that I regrettably sold. I'd like to get another
and am considering all my options. I've got a small handful of questions for
the group experts. I hope you will indulge me.

I loved the sound of the XL2A (vol-blend-sing;e tone). How different id the
sound of the passive tone XL2?

I am a big fan of the Hipshot Bass Extender and have one on nearly all of my
headed basses. So, it is only natural that I would consider the Steinberger DB
bridge. Does it work as consistently and reliably as the Hipshot products?
There are two versions DBv1 and DBv2, which correspond to the v2 Newburgh 4
string and the v4 Zen-On 4 string bridges in terms of the saddle construction.
Is one better than the other? If so is the difference significant enough to
hold-out and wait for the superior bridge?

I've never been a fan of the XP basses, but I can certainly get behind a XM
bass. How does the sound compare to the XL line?

These are a lot of questions. I'm sure your answers will lead me to more
questions. Thanks in advance for your help.
