| | | Well, Santa was very kind this year and bought me a SUB!
Only thing is, I have two concerns.
It's hard to see, but are those notches at the end of each fret as a result of bad cutting? Every fret is like that.
Also, there's some yucky looking wood marks on the fretboard (They're less noticeable in that lighting). It's a nice bass, I'm just paranoid that I got a slightly less than awesome one. |

I didn't notice any blemishes but at that price, it's a great bass. I have an excellent tech that, if he finds anything out of the ordinary, he works on it to make it right. I can't wait to get the mods done. It's gonna be one heck of a bass. |

I sold my OLP MM2 get this Walnut Stain Ray4 for $399AUD and I got the sweet baby today from Allan's Music. I am stoked with the feel and sound. Setup nicely but would definitely chuck better strings later. I've played with it for about 30 mins in the shop and the neck plays really nice (reminds me of my fender jazz) and the tone you can get is pretty sweet.
My only gripe thou is when I got home to caress it, I saw some little discolouration marks around the neck area particularly the headstock and near the heel. Not too sure if its visible in my pic but it looks like when something's been held and rubbed for too long causing the finish to fade around the corners and looks like a line of faded wood.
Not big of a deal really, but its the only bass I bought brand new as all my other basses are bought 2nd hand, so yeah....any of your basses came to this point already or is this something that only I experienced? |

Every time I browse thru GC, MF, SW and other sites I always wish I live there.

Those notches on the sides are from how the frets are installed. The slots are cut across the entire width of the fretboard and the fret wire is put in. IIRC that's a very common practice. I know EBMM will use a substance to fill in that area so it's invisible, but on a $249 instrument there's not a lot of room for that luxury.

On the one hand, I don't want you to make a Ray35CA. My Stingray Classic 5 is my single favorite bass of all time, and an import version would simply mean more people playing them and me being less unique. On the other hand, I would buy one INSTANTLY!!!!

I never noticed them on my Squier, probably because it was rosewood.
Also... anyone want a sound clip? https://soundcloud.com/steeel-woool/...-die-bass-demo

With it's 38mm nut, slab body, and "Vintage Tinted" neck, Ray34CAFL is the perfect vehicle for our addition of a Fretless Bass to the Sterling By Music Man product offering for 2013!
Features a "Lined" Rosewood fretboard (side dots only)
Available in the following finishes:
Vintage Cream
Mint Green
Black
Sunburst
Silver Metallic - 2013 Limited Edition
I´m a bit confused by the "lined - side dots only". If it´s unlined... I´ll want one for sure!
