Hello talkbass. Yesterday at my local music store they had a sterling by musicman SB14 for 549.99. I was wondering if any of you have anything positive or negative to say about it.

It might take more than 17 minutes to get a response, just be patient! In the meantime, do a search. I'm sure these basses have been discussed numerous times...

Now, the important question for you... Did you like it?

They're good basses, good quality, good sound, and come from a company that's been building basses for a long time.

If you like it, and can afford it, take it home!

I've always been impatient . When I played it the strings were dead and the battery was dying so it wasn't helping me decide.

The "Bass whisperer" does a review of them on youtube. He's a MM fan through and through so I would trust his opinion on it. I've played them in GC and felt it was a good bass for an overseas copy. I'm saving up for an OLC version though.

Gotcha covered. Check this video out, this is as good as a review gets:

Also, FWIW, I own a Sterling HH and have played the SB14 and the RAY34 and I really like them both and would consider them a worthy substitute for a legitimate 'Ray or Sterling any day.
