Steve Harris Pbass

There's a pretty good deal locally on a 2001 Steve Harris Pbass. I don't know a lot about them except from what I've read here and on Fender's web site. Is is just a standard Pbass with baseline pickups and a Leo bridge? Anything else special about this model?

apart from the finish, and pickguard. no. It's a p bass.

Can't remember what year it was the SH p basses had notoriously back cracking in the finish.

Yikes that's what it is - sparkling blue. $800 sound like a decent price.

The 2001s were Lake Placid Blue with a red mirror pickguard. The body was made from basswood. There was a cool little Eddie's head and the Iron Maiden logo on the front of the headstock.

I played one in a Sam Ash about a year ago, it felt RIGHT. It was the only thing out of about 30 played that day, that made me wish I had $1200. Maybe it was the big fat flats that come on it, but it felt like one cohesive piece, not like parts put together.

Aren't the old models considered to be better than the newer ones?

Having played both, I must say I actually liked the new version much better. IIRC the old ones had a Basslines SPB-3, while the new ones come with the SPB-1.
