Stingray 3 Band EQ question please.

Sign in to disble this ad
Does anyone know what the frequency centers are on the 3 band EQ?

I need to figure out what frequencies I'm boosting my my 98 4H when I turn up the mid control.

I'm wanting to duplicate the effect I get (not perfectly) when I turn the mid control on my Stingray all the way using my amps EQ with some of my other Basses.

If I play around with it long enough I may find it but you guys could save me some time.

And yes I have searched vigorously with no results.

From the Music Man website, FAQ page:

Quote:
Our 3 band basses use a standard baxandall circuit centered appx. 500hz. Frequency slope is 6 db per octave. With bass control in max position, max output will occur at 40hz and drop at 6db per octave above 40hz. Maximum treble response drops at 6 db per octave at frequencies below appx.12 khz. Mid range is centered appx.500 hz. Control settings are interactive, therefore 6 db per octave slope only occurs when one control is in maximum position and the two remaining controls are set to minimum.

Didn't they lower it at some point? To get more low mids. I want to say I saw that somewhere. I'm thinking it sounds higher than that on my Bass.

My Bass is a 98/99.

I've never heard of MM changing the 2 or 3 band preamps on the Stingray.

They tend to focus more on creating new models with different preamps for that.

I think you are right. I believe it is in the 500 hz range. I have been tweaking to reach my goal and I think I'm there. Just need to get to the gig and see if it all works.

That is what I used this past weekend. I used my Stingray Classic and boosted the 800 Hz setting on my Streamliner into two Berg HT112ER cabs. I had only compliments from my fellow band mates and they is some picky bitches.

I actually had to play two gigs in one day and I used the same rig for boaf.

The three band sounds fine, but I prefer the two band for simplicity -- it sounds great too!

Yeah, the 3 band sounds good, I've had mine since '95. I just feel that it doesn't have the low end balls and warmth that the 2 band has. I recently modded my pickup and did a series/parallel/split-coil with it and have found a whole new array of tones that are out of this world. The series tone sounds a lot like Flea's Wal tone on Blood Sugar... plugged straight into an amp
