Stingray 5 noob here. Need Date and other info

How do you date these things? My friend told me its mid-late 90's. But I'd like to know for sure.

Also, what are the controls? The 4 knobs and selector switch, what do they do?

Your four knobs are as follows (from closest to the neck to farthest away):

Volume, Treble (High-end), Mids, Bass (Low-end)

The switch has to do with how the coils in the pickup are running. Do a search on the forums to find out the exact info. However, the most important thing to do is mess around with the 3 and find out what sounds you can get from each position.

Man! The last time I posted about trying to date a bass, I bunch of wiseguy remarks about dinner, movies, flowers, etc!
very funny, but not all that helpful.
