| StingRay 5 or Sterling 5?

I'm going to purchase my first 5-string soon. I'm deciding between the Music Man StingRay 5 or the Music Man Sterling 5. I know the Sterling has a smaller body and thinner neck. I also saw the the StingRay pickups use alnico pole pieces, and the Sterling uses ceramic magnets.
Those of you who have experience with these two basses, please tell me which one you prefer, and why. If you can, give me your likes and dislikes of each, in comparison to the other. I'm curious as to what differences in tone the alnico pole pieces of the StingRay have in comparison to the ceramic magnets of the Sterling. Thank you for any feedback you may have. |
