Stingray Bridge Help

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, long time no post.

I have a possibly dumb question. I've been wanting to get a black bridge for my Stingray and I've been searching for awhile to no avail because finding one from a stealth stingray for sale is impossible and the only other one is a cheap one on ebay for OLPs so I was wondering if there was a replacement bridge for Stingrays made by Hipshot or something or somewhere that sells actual Music Man parts.

Thanks

AFAIK, there is no place that sells actual Music Man parts. Have you checked into having yours powder-coated. You would probably have to track down some black screws and springs, but it might be a better alternative to an aftermarket bridge.

Hmm never thought of powder coating, can you buy powder coat in a can at Home Depot or is it something that has to be professionally done?

It has to be professionally done.

You can do powder coating at home using an oven to bake it on, but I'd be weary of it coming out that great. I'd think you would need remove the chrome so the power had something to adhere to.

You might consider the OLP bridge. I bought a bag of these to use on my SX basses and they were DIRT cheap. Mine are chrome but I think they came in black too. Not sure these are the same as the ones on EBAY you are talking about but mine were VERY nicely constructed! I don't think they'd be a problem. I guess you'd just have to buy one to see for sure.

You can see if Pat Park will sell you a Ray34 bridge, and have that power coated.

Pat has always been particularly helpful.

Thanks guys
If I end up getting my bridge powder coated I would probably get the rest of the hardware done too, so would anyone have a guess on what that would cost? I looked up powder coaters online but none had prices and if it cost too much I think I will just buy new hardware and the OLP bridge that bassbenj was talking about which I figured would be about $130ish.

Powder coating will not be cheap. You would be better off buying the bridge you are talking about.

Powder coating small parts is cheap. A bridge, saddles, and even the control plate should be well under $50 from a quality powder coater. If there is a custom motorcycle shop by you stop in and ask them who does their coating for them.
