When did they start making StingRay 4's with the double-humbucker option? Anyone have one to sell? I'm looking for one with a maple neck, early 2000's (hopefully).

2005 is when the dual pickup Ray came out.

Why specifically an early 2000's model, if you are unaware of something simple like when they started being made?

The MM Sabre was similar in that it had the dual humbuckers, but it was quite a different thing from a Stingray!

The Sabre is very different than the dual bucker Stingray actually.

I have an early 2000's 4H and I love it almost as much as my wife. I love the way it feels, looks, plays, and (most importantly) sounds. I would hate to change anything about that bass, but I really want another humbucker for more versatility.

So another question...when did they start doing string-through-body?

Modern era Stingrays are very consistent in quality, keeping in mind that each individual instrument will of course have its own vibe. But you won't find that the early 2000 instruments are any better or any worse than, say, mid 90s or current models.

String-through models pop up now and then (the Classic Series has it) but your standard models are not string-through bodies.

Jack

I recently saw a newish HH that has string-thru body, but it's not a classic or any other special edition...

Probably another GC special run. Those GC only models are not widely announced and are hard to keep track of.
