Stingray making some strange high-end sounds...

Started playing my Stingray a few months ago after it being out of action for a year or so. I lowered the action a bit (a bit too much though, I don't have a lot of knowledge here), but it's making some strange sounds at the high end. Beyond the twelfth fret, especially on the D and G strings, it sounds almost like there are two basses, but they're out of tune with each other. I'm not sure if the intonation is out or not, but it seems like the most likely culprit?

Take a look at the neck relief, tightening the truss rod might solve the "out of tune" thing.

It could be that your pickup might be to close to the strings when fretting up that high. Fret the strings at the very last fret and measure from the top of the pole pieces to the bottom of the string. I shoot for 8/64" on the bass side and 6/64" on the treble side to get me in the ball park. And be sure and check the intonation!
