Stingray neck on a MIM P Bass?

Has it ever been done? I'm thinking about doing it.

I think it involves routing the neck pocket, but yeah.

Not a big deal. I sorta assumed that. I just wondered if anyone was crazy enough to do it!

Why? Do you not like the P neck? What would be the advantage?

Because the StingRay has an extra fret, where the neck sits on the body is different enough that you'd have to do some surgery to get the neck to sit correctly for the bridge to allow correct intonation. Seems like an expensive proposition to me.

Alternately, you could just move the bridge.

Alright! Here is my reason.

I sold the neck on my franken P bass. To REALLY make something odd, I was considering ordering a fretless Stringray neck from Moses.

I would rather re-rout the neck pocket. Longer pocket would make for a deeper, more stable attachment.
