Stingray SLO Special?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey all. So I've been a jazz bass guy for a while, and I love my 62 Reissue. But, I play every weekend. I'm in a very popular wedding band and we travel a lot. If anyone knows anything about these Jazz basses, you know they're quite delicate. I get nervous bringing it out sometimes. People get crazy and it's taken some CLOSE calls. I need more of a power-house beast work horse. So I'm considering a MM Stingray. I owned one a few years ago.

Now, for my question. I liked the MM wider spaced necks, they're good for slapping. But, I also love the Jazz neck. It's comfortable. More comfy than a P-Bass (IMO). I was looking into the MM SLO Special. It's the HH Stingray, but with a Sterling spaced neck. More of a Jazz feel. Is there still some good spacing between strings? Or is it REALLY like a Jazz bass? I want a change, and I like the idea of this bass. But spacing wise, how much different is it? If it's not a huge difference, I'll pick up a SLO. If it is, maybe I should stick with the regular Stingray.
