I just had my 96 Fender Jazz stolen. It's blue, has a parrot sticker between the bridge and pickup, and the serial # is MN6135064. It was taken out of the trunk of our Honda between 1am and 9am on Thursday morning, Aug 5. Also taken was my Fender Strat and a Yamaha keyboard. I have pictures and serial numbers. If anyone has any information, PLEASE let me know. I've been out of work for over 2 1/2 years, with only an occasional gig and a weekly jam, so I can't afford to pay a reward, let alone replace even one of these instruments. Devastated is not even close to how I feel. This is the second time I've been ripped off and it huts just as bad. I am willing to work or trade or ? for a reward (along with my everlasting thanks), or pretty much do anything. I need out stuff back! |

I see stolen posts all the time in CL in the Musical Instruments area. You might want to try that too.
It can't hurt. Again, sorry. Quote:

I feel your pain as I have had some of my most prized babies stolen from me as well. It is all about filing a police report, calling every pawn shop in your area, and diligently searching Craigslist. Remember, if the guy that stole your bass does post on Craigslist, it will likely be a vague post without a photo. Something like "instruments for sale". Fender bass, e-mail me for pics." Be diligent dude and nail the losertard that ganked your baby! |

Meanwhile good luck, man. That sucks.

| | Tuxedo BassŪ - That's Me! | | Join Date: Feb 2010 Location: Hamilton, Montana | | It won't help you right now - but I take pictures of all my gear, front-rear-sides-head-body-etc.
Basses - amps - stomps - PAs - cabs - cables - cases - all of it gets a photographic record.
Shoot the serial numbers, scan the receipts and any/all paperwork and take a shot of yourself playing them for a better record too. [I also stick my business card under all my PGs too - or tuck it into a cab/amp and into places where there are 'places'.] Then I post these in a private area on Picasa where I can upload them and they are there forever.
Create separate folders in Picasa to hold each piece of equipment individually so there's no confusion later on as to what headstock went with which bass.
If you get Picasa and you have GMail, it will migrate to take the same contact list you have so you can send these same pixs to any address on the internet too. If you don't have GMail - get it.
Unlike those other pix-display sites, you won't go stale or forget to refresh the records and have the pixs all deleted when you go to see them.
You've all seen " This picture is no longer available" on some of the other postings here - right?
I have also posted videos of me playing with the gear in a private folder on YouTube for better records. All my computers have these passwords and sites saved on them so any of my 'puters can access these file from anywhere I can get a WIFI or hardwire connex too.
I also bought a domain through GoDaddy and I have more files on there - it's cheap and I have 100Gig of storage (an extra fee) for a lot more than just pictures.
Every receipt I have and mortgage papers and tax records are there for digital records if the hard copies get lost or whatever.

I will pray for the quick return of your goods.
