| | | | Wow, sorry to hear about the burglary. I was down near Forrest Park on Sat and checked a couple a pawn shops for ya...didn't see anything that matched your descriptions....(although I did see a re-issue Burns Bison for $399 and a squire bronco for $89)..... I work close to Northside Loan (they moved to the West End) so I'll use this as an excuse to go in there and look around this week....good luck and hope your gear turns up...dm

You don't steal someone's instruments, or anyone's personal belongings. That's just not right.

Still working through the insurance claim, but with pictures, etc. I should be able to prove ownership of most of them. So, as a lesson to us all, record all of your serial numbers, take pictures and keep them somewhere besides on your computer, like a flash drive, CD, etc. If they take your computer, external hard drive, etc., your screwed. A backup on Carbonite or another cloud file would probably be the best. Never too old to learn new stuff, albeit somewhat painfully.

numbers of my instruments. I hate to say it but an alarm is a necessity these days. People can still kick your door in and steal your stuff, but they're more likely to go to the next house, I feel. I'm lucky my wife has a business in our house. She tries to watch out for our neighbors as well. Just put my info in Clarion for a quote for my gear. I don't know that my homeowner's will cover it. Best of luck getting your instruments back.

I'm definitely hoping that you recover your instruments as well as the personal belongings, Dan. But it's definitely reassuring to see so many TBer's checking in that are keeping an eye out for your instruments.
In the meantime, you might want to consider re-posting this in the Lost & Stolen Gear forum. There's a lot of traffic in the Basses forum, but threads like yours can get buried pretty quickly. |

Dan | I know what I am doing tonight...getting updated pics of all my basses, with serial numbers. I think I will store it all on a 'thumb drive' and keep it in a bank safe deposit box.
Sorry to hear of your loss, dude.

I agree with other posts that its probably someone you know. if they picked out your nicest stuff like a 63 SG they definitely had a knowledge of what you had. |

| | | | Is the a central place where people put the serial numbers of stolen bass and guitars? If not there should be. Then when we shop craigslist or pawn shops we could take note. |

I expect some of this stuff will turn up on Craigslist and ebay, so if anyone out there sees anything suspicious on the Atlanta Craigslist or elsewhere, shoot me a PM. Right now my only computer access is from work.
Thanks,
Dan | Very sorry to hear about your dilemma man. Ill keep an eye open.

I hate that! give the police serial #s and any pictures they can work with check the pawn shops even better yet call the pawn shops in your area 10 mile radius and let them know they are hot. craigslist ads your next best bet. Sorry to hear that it really gets me ticked when I hear that kind of stuff sob would be missing thumbs if you steal from me and I find you first!

BRUTAL
I cannot tell you what I would do to this person if this happened to me. I would most likely get a visit from the FBI if I explained what I'd do on the internet.
I have a dark side...

When my car was broken into and my Epifani UL-112 combo was stolen, I couldn't even get the pawn shops around here to care. Atlanta Bass Gallery would spot them as stolen pretty quickly and with as many readers in this network as there is, CL or eBay would be foolish.
Hope you get them back! |
