One of the best online places to shop. I have purchased 2 electric guitars, 1 acoustic, 2 6 string basses and 2 violins.

Great customer service: After a year in elementary school orchestra, the bridge on one of the violins broke. I emailed Kurt to ask how much for a replacement, and he mailed the part to me for free.

Major props to Rondo!

I ordered a red Sixer from Rondo. I had to send a money order to keep it away from my wife. :-) They have a new stock of black and red sixers in now.

I bought one of the 6 string basses about a month ago. Great price for the bass and I was very pleased with what I got for the money spent. I for one will for sure buy from Rondo Music again (just as soon as the cash flow increases and I can afford another one)!!! Planning on getting a 5 and 4 string in the future, and probably another 6 string as well.

SX Ursa 2 MN 6 CAR Red 6 String Bass at RondoMusic.com

This to me is a beautiful guitar. I gig every week and I have been using the SX ash natural 4 string (old school headstock)with pearl inlays jazz for over a year now. If the pickups are as hot as the four strings were on the six string, it will be plenty hot after changing the strings.

I have a set of D'addarios XL waiting for it when it gets here. I will shim the neck and work the nut a bit so the action will be low. If the pickups are a little thin, I will probably put shielding in cavities and a (ARTEC-SE2A) for $20.00. Grounding the active electronics the right way is the key to hum or not. These electronics are used in the more expensive LTD bass. I think it will be fine.

I will have a grand total of $200.00 in it if I do the work myself. I guess you have to count the strings too, so maybe $240.00. That will not break the bank and it comes with a gig bag.

SX 6 string - YouTube

Here is link to listen to the Artec Se2a electronics. It looks as though he still has the stock strings on it. They suck, get rid of them.

I am a rounded player who likes to play everything, Jazz, blues, country, rock, christian, everything except bluegrass. I could play it I just (will not)

For the budget player, this guitar is a steal Buy one before they sell out. The black is also cool. Mine will be in by friday or saturday. I will post a link on where to buy the electronics and take good photos of it when I finish the project. I plan on giging with it next week. I will probably change the pickguard but I can play it like it is until i find the color I want to make it kick off.

6 string SX Bass

I just got my SX 6 String from Rondomusic.com today. I have to say I can not believe the quality that it is right out of the box. I am without words, and it came with a gig bag. The color of red is much richer looking than on the website. I call it a candy apple red. Absolutly beautiful.

I was afraid I would not like the neck but it is great. Wide but not thick. I don't have the biggest hands but it is perfect for my hands and easy to play. I have not set it up yet but i can already tell it will be my gig guitar. Straight out of the box it is set up pretty good. I will lower the strings when I put new ones on it. I am going outside and take pictures so I can let you see how it came right out of the box. As I work on it, I will share the pictures with you. The only thing I see it needs to beautify it is, possibly hipshots, and a pearl white pickguard. It really is beautiful.

Are the necks actually straight on these basses? Can you get nice low action with a proper setup all the way up the neck? I don't mind replacing the electronics but you really can't replace the neck on these.

The neck is really straight on mine, from the first batch that came in last year. The dual truss rods make it uber-adjustable and very stable.
I did a quick fret level on mine, (using the method from Chunger's "Basses for newbies" thread, part 1) and the action can go much lower than I need or want it to be.

The addition of a gig bag is a nice touch over last year's model.

Mine is from batch before these. (Burst instead of Black or Red). Neck was nice but not as nice as the other two I bought before when they were first offered. They were already leveled! But were not crowned! some frets were flat on top. Was no big deal to crown them.

This one did not seem to have frets touched at all. So I decided to try out my new Fret Rocker and crowning files I bought from StewMac a while back. The rocker showed one fret pretty high and two more just a bit high. I filed them down not even to level but just where a tiny bit of rocking was left and then polished them all with the Dremel. I then did a copper foil shield job and the usual threaded inserts for the neck screws (which this time were actually drilled straight with right size holes) and put it back together. Quite frankly I was ASTOUNDED! The action could only be described with one word: Boutique! I can't imagine what this bass would play like if I'd really level it or had it Pleked! I am not a huge fan of uber low action anyway, so even this quick and dirty level job was way more than it needed for me.

My only problem now is trying to decide which of the three are going to get ripped apart for the fretless ebony fingerboards I bought! And yeah the gig bag is cool. I was surprised to find one with the bass even though I ordered a hard case with mine! Nice!

I am interested in possibly putting one of the Artec preamps in my SX J 6 string. I am thinking that the pickups don't sound bad at all (actually pretty good) but are pretty weak, even with better strings. The preamp may an inexpensive way to give them a bit more push. Comments from anyone who has done this?

One thing I am in the process of doing is changing out the bridge for one that has 17mm spacing (instead of the 15mm spacing on the stock bridge.) I found one on ebay for under $50 and the neck apears to be able to accommodate the extra width without any problem...we will see when I actually put it on this weekend. If it works and there is still space on the neck, I may try going even wider...but have to put on the 17mm spaced bridge first.

I just pulled the trigger on a Red one. I was actually just looking for a 5 string, but I decided the high C wouldn't hurt, and the headstock looks worlds better. I was hoping for a passive 5-er, so this looks to be perfect. Now to find some new strings for it!

I had a fretless show up that looked like someone had just put a fretted neck on a belt sander with a brick on top. It was minorly scalloped. Not sure what the impetus was or how it ended up that way.

However they were exceptional about the return.
