It will be my winter mod platform...I know for sure I will add threaded neck inserts and level the frets, but will play it by ear from there.
I blame this purchase entirely on everybody who has posted in this thread!

| | | If anyone is interested, this guy is selling his soon. He upgraded it with a new preamp. I'd consider it, but if I'm gonna buy another, I'd wanna try and find a black one. Not really digging the red. http://youtu.be/7QzCJ1WQTyw |

I saw the Ibanez GVB36 with a narrow neck and 14mm string spacing and thought it might be cool, but I wasn't interested in spending $1100 to see if I liked it, then I saw this thread: Converting a 5 string into a 6 string...
So I bought the SX and converted it. It has 14mm spacing at the bridge, but really narrow at the nut (1 5/8"). I like it, and it only cost $300 total.
I used a Kahler bridge because it could be adjusted to the narrow spacing (although I do think it is ugly). I used Hipshot Ultra-Lite tuners, a couple that are mismatched because I just used what was in my parts drawer. The strings are very even sounding in volume, even though they don't line up with the poles on the 5 string pickup. It sounds really good.

I mean the bassman Rob MCBass was putting down. He was doing a nasty groove. I mean sweet tone, the whole nine yards. I decided to check out the gear, he was playing a SX Ursa 6string no upgrades. I was floored at how get the bass sounded. I am on the wagon about to place that order as soon as possible.

I think I need to raise the bass side of the pickups a bit since the output on the b wasn't as hot as I'd like, and I think after a tweak in the action she'll do nicely. |

Call me crazy, too!
I just ordered a second one and my first one hasn't even shipped yet!
Now I'll have one SB and one CAR and may need some kind of intervention before I order a black one!

| | | Yeah stupid me snapped the string over tuning it was the laim stock strings that came with it. I will have new ones put on when have pre-amp put in . I like it without the pick guard and will be having a custom one made by a friend .Probably gonna go with metal( ala traben Basses) pic guard.

The frets are pretty even no sprouts tone was even and very playable. The intonaton is really good too. I think this is the best less than $200 bass I ever had.
