Being a P bass player the MM feel kind of like mini P basse sand sound close to them. The Dano weighs nothing has a honky almost snotty tone and real thin neck.
I have not taken the Dano out in awhile and dusted it off last week for a fun little show my band did. The tone was clear and massive and I was told by other musicians there I sounded great and that the Dano was awesome. It was like playing air that night and allot of fun.

Well,ok maybe my Turner Model 1 was a bit better,(and much more $$$),but the thing i like about the Mustang is it doesn't feel like a "little" bass to me. I don't usually even like SS basses.
Also you might want to check some of the Italia models. |

The Mustang looks, sounds and feels just like any full size bass to me, just easier to get around the neck. The Jaguar has a fantastic neck pickup but a so so bridge pickup but overall still a very good tone. The Dano is an oddity, uglier than sin but such a sweet tone. The control knobs and the tuners feel like they'll snap off in your hands and I'd suspect it's not a very sturdy gig bass.
All that said, if I wanted a bass to gig with on classic rock tunes I'd go for the Mustang. If I wanted a studio bass for the same tunes I'd go for the Dano. If I were playing country western music I'd go for the Dano. If I were playing more modern stuff I'd go for the Jag. If I was concerned with what people thought about how my bass looked I'd go with which ever one fit the rest of the band look the best. If wasn't concerned at all about what people thought I'd go with the Dano just to open some eyes on how good a sound you can get out of something as unorthodox as a goofy little Dano. |
