I've used PayPal for transactions exceeding $4,000. Not sure where the fear comes from.

There are different types of bank transfer - BACS, FPS, SWIFT, CHAPS... Some of them take a while to go through so it might be possible for the sender to stop the payment before it's actually 'gone'... But I've always thought once it's in my account, that's it.

I'm sure they can all be reversed by the banks (if they suspect fraud, etc) but it would be odd for a customer to be able to request it.

Safest thing is to just call your bank and ask for conformation that it's all clear.

I'm also interested what you don't like about paypal (if gift)?

Why not have him get a bank check?

I only do cash 99% of the time, but the one bass I shipped to Oklahoma was done with Paypal, and it went fine. Even cashier's checks have a large number of fraud situations nowadays.

What could go wrong? Hmm.

The OP could delete their original post so that no one knows what the thread is about instead of whoever was lucky enough to read it... real quick.

It must've been an embarrassing topic. So much so that it isn't deemed important enough to keep it the way it was so others might fall into the same quandary.

Thanks!
