Are there early 50s Precision Bass replika builder on the market?

.....but no Fenders.

I'm talking about the models with tummy cut etc. not the very early models, but basses "Sting style".

Not important if reliced or not.

Thx for links, greetz

Yes, the Fender Custom shop did the 1955 model. Should be very easy to find one of them.

I'm sure the Fender Custom shop makes great 55 models.

But I try to find a non Fender, because I don't wanna pay for the name.

And I'm looking for real replikas - not for Squier models with the same body shape but completely different specs.

No others ideas? I would like to have one...:-)

The Dillion looks nice.
Any experiences with it?

Ah - by the way: thx for your help, guys.

If it's a good bass for a good price, why be so decisive about not buying Fender?

Anyway, Lakland builds them but they have a split coil pickup.

The split coil pickup, in my opinion, is an improvement for noise reduction without any significant tonal alteration.

...because here in germany, you pay about 40 % only for the name Fender.

Some years ago, I compared an original 54 and a 57 - they sounded completely different.
Says nothing, because it is not only the PU making the sound...:-)

Completely different specs? Not really. They're almost exactly the same as the Fender. The only real difference being maybe the bridge.

John Kallas would probably do it.

Well, the only Squier near to the original ist the Classic Vibe 50s Precision.
- different bridge (no prob, replacements are cheap)
- the bodywood, completely different, it's no ash.
- butterscotch, I'd like to have one in sunburst. ;-)

Bridge and color aren't that important, but I'm looking for a bass made of real good woods.
I looked for parts at Warmoth's - it will cost about 1,200 $ for the whole stuff. I think it will be as good as a Fender non CS, maybe better.

But maybe there are other companies selling complete instruments?

To make it simple: look at the P-bass Sting use to play on stage - that's the stayle I'm looking for. Relic or not isn't important.

Thx for your time!

Well then, get a Fender Sting Signature. Made in Japan. It's a Fender, but it's very, véry good bang for buck. I really don't get the "I don't want a Fender" attitude...

Again:
I don't have a "I don't want a Fender" attitude.

It's only for saving money.
As I said before: US Fenders in germany are a lot more expensive than in the US.
It would be even cheaper to buy one in the US, incl. shipping, tax and vat.

The Sting signature bass is a chance, you're right.

It's quite affordable as well at the (IMHO) best German webshop: http://www.thomann.de/nl/fender_sting_bass.htm

By the way, Fender makes/made a '51 reissue in Japan as well.

And of course there's Sadowsky, but speaking of high prices...

But when talking cheap, there's always Bach: http://www.bachmusik.com/en/music-in...el-bach-bpb-60

I would say go for the Sting signature too. It's Japanese made, and usually you can find these used for around US$500-600.

People recommending Sadowsky and Lakland - he's looking for something without the US Fender price tag, so obviously these even more high-end brands are out.
