Is there such a thing as a 32" scale 5'er for under a grand?

I am finding that I really like 5 string basses, and I also like medium scale basses. I know there are some luthiers who will do it, but I just don't see myself having that kind of money anytime soon...is there a chance that I might be in luck?

There might be. Good? That's a different story.

Isn't the Warwick Rockbass 5 Medium Scale under $1000? Seems info is hard to find on this new model as of yet.

Get a used alembic 5 string spoiler, they're 32 scale and really comfortable to play. Not very common but they might be had for maybe a couple hundred more and very worth it.

Pretty sure you could find a MusicMan5 used for under a grand. If memory serves, those are 32".

Huh? That's definitely a 34" bass.

OP, keep an eye out for the Warwick RB Medium Scale 5er. Warwick has it on their site, but no pricing. I've heard pricing will be around $600 or so, but don't quote me.

Saw the Rockbass at NAMM - it was really nice. It was $1499 list price, so maybe $1200? As nice as it was, that is far too much as far as I am concerned.

You could always have one built. B string should be fine if you use flats (which have higher tension).

Or, you could string a Mustang (or whatever) BEAD...that is if you can find strings that fit. Maybe through body stringing would allow for use of regular long scale strings.
