Sorry, no 'before' images. Here is how the bass is now, and how I intend to keep it!

The brass saddles are also a change from stock. I prefer brass saddles, though the effect is minimal.

I put The Chromes on yesterday evening and it sounds even better. Still, I'm surprised at how nice it sounded with the factory strings. I wonder what kind they were. Anyway, The Chromes sound nicer & I prefer the feel of the heavier B string. The sound is so deep & rounded, yet some how tight & articulate. Just what I'm looking for in a 5-string. By the way, thanks for your help in that thread I made a couple weeks ago

Question

So what's the best chance I have of purchasing a BB1025 without the pickguard? I'm in New York. Any places sell them online?

There are 2 BB1000S's on Ebay right now which would be what you would be looking for but neck thru. I don't know if they make the new BB's without a pickguard.

Hi fellow club members,

My fretless 1980's BB1200 needs to have the fingerboard sanded and I have to order a sanding block. Am I right in thinking the radius is 10"?

I put my 424X back to stock... 3-way switch and 250k pots. Prefer it a bit darker sounding and without having to balance volumes like a J bass.

Still reckon this is the most P bass you can get for the money. Sure a MIM is just a wee bit more expensive, and a Squier is ok if you want the agent orange inch-thick (unevenly applied) gloss on the neck... but the BB424X was built to work!

I ordered a 10" block and will find out if it fits.

And 10" it is. It's smooth as a babys bottom again. It's the first time I've had to do this in 9 to10 years.
