I am thinking of replacing the stock EPI pickups on my PRO IV with these babies .

(NECK)
http://www.thomann.de/gr/emg_35p4_bass_pickup.htm

(BRIDGE)
http://www.thomann.de/gr/emg_35csx.htm

and using v/v/t , i rarely use the built in preamp anyway . has anyone tried this mod on his/hers 'bird or instrument ?
I am also thinking of using a hipshot D-tuner , as one of my bands plays in drop d tuning .

Is having a metal pickup cover as opposed to plastic better for tone?

Just picked this up! The pelham blue finish is wonderful, overall the bass is lighter than I was expecting.

That's a really nice NR bird you have there!

Btw, looking at all these NR's posted on this forum actually makes me wonder why Fender originally issued a lawsuit against Gibson for the reverse T-bird's design, when the NR's actually look a whole lot more like a Fender Jaguar than anything else...

Static

Hi...
Has anyone had experience with static on new Gibson Thunderbirds? I have tried 3 new t birds over the last week including a non reverse and every one of them had a terrible static problem coming from the back plate and bottom side of the bass...
Looking for advice on how to solve the problem and purchase one the basses.
I called gibson today and the rep told me to rub a dryer sheet on it and it would stop for a day or two...I am looking for a more permanent solution..
Thanks
Jay

Nope. My 2012 model is pretty quiet as far as static and buzz is concerned.

Jay, Might be the florescent lighting at the store....................or what were you wearing ? Something with a high polyester or nylon content could induce a static chharge.

How is the nut width on these new NR birds? Is it just as thin as the IV's, or is it a little wider like the LP basses?

Hey Scott, Curt at the HOG actually called you to get your opinion..Dick checked out both Tbirds and he had the same problem...I played the blue non reverse and the les Paul bass and the same thing happened.
Thanks
