I did it to match the bridge angle. The tele adds a nice amount of top when mixed with the 'bucker. Before installing it I had a Kent (Teisco) pickup surface mounted to do the same, around 1/4" high. It's the first bass I attempted any serious modification or refinishing. I've owned it since '65.

Pretty bass, awesome car
I'll refrain from making pictures of my bass behind my car. I'm a poor student, in Holland, with a Fiat Panda haha

TBird's been cracken me up with the 12 basses of Christmas, so here's my bass for the New Years Eve party!

Plenty festive and constantly changing colors depending on the angle of the light.

I got some more Tbird porn for y'all!

Here's BaCH BTH-2 aka BaCHbird that I had refinned in Pelham Blue. Plus a gave it a custom pickuard. And rewired it with CTS pots.

Just ask me!

This is actually a pilot for possibly more refins.
I'm the guy that initiated the BaCHbird project a few years ago. They're built in Czech Republic by BaCH. I gave them drawings, pics, spec. Basically anything I could find about the Non Reverse Thunderbirds that had been extinct for more than 40 years.

A while ago I got in touch with a guy that is a professional car painter. He has access to all the vintage colors from the fifties and sixties. I had a BaCH Transparent Red BTH-2 that I didn't want to sell to a customer because of a flaw in the finish. Instead of sending it back I decided to have it refinished in Pelham Blue.

It turned out beautifully and I am planning to do more. But I have to find a way to keep the price reasonable. I'm aiming at 650 euro.

Are that available in a 5 string or just strictly a 4 string version?

So I went to pick up my T-Bird today. I had already rejected two Epiphones and ordered a Gibson this time.I pull the case out of the box and open the latches. The center latch seems locked. A metal tab was bent over and I thought this can't be good. I had to ask for some pliers to bend it back.I open it up and the bass is half in half out of the molded bed with a big chip in the lower horn. Right down to the wood. It must have been dropped pretty hard. They said they would get another one as soon as possible.

So, now I'm wondering if I should get the Gibson Nikki Sixx model instead of the ebony.Anyone have an opinion on the two ?

No opinion, but with the luck you're experiencing, I have to think the delivery guys are apes.

Trying out a guard template

I popped a mock-up of a black pickguard on my Tokai 'bird to see how that would look...

I also traced the original guard on to some ply to make up a few. One will be black, then the others stained different shades to try out

Sorry the pics ain't too great, taken on iPad under electric light

The standard IV has a bit more versitile wiring VVT arrangement, I rewired my Nikki Sixx Mk II that way, like it much better. Of course, the NS is a very visually interesting bass, so it's a difficult choice - good luck!

When you cave in and put chrome hardware on, it'll look great!

Love the 12 Days of Thunderbirds! Making me miss my old Epiphone non-reverse, though. Anyone come across one for sale, 4 or 5 string, let me know!
