My Christmas present (from myself). A lovely 1976 bird. (Unbroken) Originally sunburst but was beautiful repainted in the 80’s. Now it got lots of nicks and scratches and a lot of mojo. Plays like a dream, far better than my 2001 bird and might even better than my Bach The neck pup is original but under the bridge pup cover there is hidden a jazz pup. Both sound terrible. I guess I will take the 76 duncan upgraded pups from my Bach or buy a pair of thunderbuckers.

Happy new year!

So, I had a local luthier put this together for me as my dream TBird.

Alder body, real Gibson Les Paul neck (shaved and reshaped for a more TB profile, and new TB headstock grafted on), Bartolini passive TBird pickups, all Hipshot hardware, amazing pelham blue paint and relic job (I play/tour with a band that incorporates a real chainsaw, fire and lots of mayhem into the show, no sense being precious about a showroom finish. The relic'ing makes it easier to swallow new bumps and scratches.), and all topped off with a fake Gibson truss rod cover. They wouldn't build it so I found someone who would.

Ironically, Gibson is doing a run of lefty T-Birds for the first time in.... forever in 2013. So, I might end up with another one!
Boo Gibson Custom Shop for not making a lefty even at top $$! Looks like your custom job turned out great!

Hello Thunderbird guys!

Are there any verdicts yet on the Epiphone Thunderbird Classic Basses? With Gibson pickups and neck through construction i guess they differ quite a bit from the normal cheap Epiphones?

I like mine quite a bit.
Ordered the white one after reading the review by TBird1958.
Imo it is definitely a great playing/feeling/sounding bass compared to the lower end Epi Tbirds.

Just a little something from Mike Lull, here's a completed Non Reverse Thunderbird body, just about ready to go the NAMM.

Nice Bass ! reminds me of my GC find for $800 bucks a unbroken '77. It had TB plus pups in it and missing the PG but what the heck! Onstage with me

I had '76 covers I sent them to Seymour Duncan and had 60's repros made for them.

The bridge is basically influenced (I'm being nice) by my design. Made by Hipshot for Lull. While developing the bridge for Lull Hipshot actually tracked me down at a gig in Upstate NY and chatted me up about it then later denied it and later still admitted to it. The ORIGINAL since 1983 the Badbird bridge provides intonation without modification for your vintage Gibson Thunderbird https://www.facebook.com/pages/Badbi...0043127?ref=hl
