I do like the photos wearing the motorcycle helmet, too! | Yes, the oval ring is the edge of the sticker. Here is one of mine, although you can't see the oval in this picture it is there.

It is possible they glued it and just didn't refinish, in which case it might be ok. One of mine has a repaired headstock like that, where they just glued it and left it like that. It is solid.
I would certainly find out before buying. It would be risky.

The natural ones are pretty rare, I don't know if it is the lighting in the pictures but the finish on this one looks rather lifeless and dull, like it had been in to much sunlight. The natural finish '76s are one of my favorites.

The '76 I bought new did that too. The glue they used must not be very strong, and the strings pull sideways. I had to have it reinstalled. It took about 20 years before it happened, I guess the glue they used became brittle and cracked, then the E string has a sideways pull coming off the tuners so it moved it. An easy fix.
It's nice to know mine wasn't the only one that did it.

This is the first (and simplest) of three 'Birds I'm building. | Stun, Silent, and Kill. Chuck Norris has a switch like that. Or maybe it was Kill, Silent, and Disintegrate. |

Cosmetically, is it a clean covering over where the posts used to be? I'm thinking of installing one on my Epi Custom Shop but I want to be sure it can be done neatly before I order...
Thanks
