Too Much Real Estate?

so i found this great 5 string neck at a yard sale...always liked the sound of a classic stringray...but the necks are like playing a baseball bat and I don't have a spare 1,500.00 laying around so....

I found this body and routed the neck pocket to fit the neck i found...

so now that i have it stained and almost finished...I'm wondering if there is too much real estate between the pup and the neck....

so...

Pickguard or bite the bullet and route for another pup?

i really like the idea of one volume one tone control...so i'm leaning towards a pickguard....a Chrome plated pickguard!

thoughts? anyone?

Although I'm just guessing from the photo, looks like the pickup route is very close to a Precision's neighborhood.

Build it, try it. You'll still have the pickguard/additional route option, but you might be pleasantly surprised by that pickup placement location.

Agreed. I would take a look at the finished product before going in a totally different direction. You can always do more later. But undoing isn't always possible. Just finish the build first, and then tweak it if you don't like the results.
