Top end basses...

What is the difference in the high end basses,I mean you have High end WARWICK, IBANEZ SR, ROSCOE, FONDORA, ECT. I mean in the hands of Michael Manring, Victor Wooten They all sound good.

roadkill2309 01-06-2013 12:37 PM

Wait. What?

bassteban 01-06-2013 12:38 PM

The difference is that they are different- especially Fondora

SoVeryTired 01-06-2013 12:40 PM

Nothing. They're all identical. And Fondora is more identical than the rest.

M.R. Ogle 01-06-2013 12:42 PM

About twelve to seven thousand dollars difference.

Depending on your choice of tonewood.

roadkill2309 01-06-2013 12:45 PM

That's why I just buy $11 SXes. They'll outplay any of those anyway...

Faderoktopus 01-06-2013 12:45 PM

Yes and no. Tone is in the carrots, so we use science as well as art to make a subjective judgement when asked the most meaningful questions. I hope this helps, otherwise you might have to ragequit.

But those ECTs are really something special.

SoVeryTired 01-06-2013 12:47 PM

What is the difference between a duck?

The feet and the feathers. It's all part of a whole.

:rolleyes::eyebrow::rollno:

No, no, no. One of its legs is both the same.

A similar principle applies to high-end basses.

Timmah 01-06-2013 12:50 PM

The duck is better bang for your buck than the fondora.

M.R. Ogle 01-06-2013 12:51 PM

But you should try the veal... and remember to tip your waitress!

Bada-boomp!

I don't think you can simplify it like that since the feathers can't really be measured accurately. If one leg is different but similar you should adjust your ducking technique to fit the context.

Just sayin'.

Which raises the question...

What duck is best for metal? :hiding:

You can measure the feathers in a vacuum. They all scream at the same frequency. In a forest. But no one can hear it. Or can they?

Some say they can hear it in a deaf, dumb and blind test, but whether it really contributes much to the tone is debatable.

Faderoktopus 01-06-2013 01:10 PM

OK, fair enough. I misspoke, so let me rephrase. If only one of it's legs is similarly differentiated, you can't properly measure the entire output of the duck by analyzing EQuack levels.

Of course, all of this is purely IMHO, so don't start an OT duck hunt here.:hmm:

Now that I can agree with. I think we're on the same wavelength (60Hz).

nostatic 01-06-2013 01:12 PM

why a duck?
