Tossed up on a Schecter Stiletto Studio 5 vs Fender Amer. Standard Jazz V

I am in market for a 5 string, to be used with hard rock. I am tossed up on getting a new or used Schecter Stiletto Studio 5 or a used Fender Amer. Standard Jazz V. Any thoughts in this comparison would be great as I am tossed up here.
Thanks!

They're both great. I have a Schecter and the wood, tuners, neck, bridge are all great, but like many, upgraded the electronics. These two will feel different and I think will be different scales and spacing, have you played both? I say go for whatever feels best in the hand, everything else can be tweaked later.

I've owned both. I'd go with a USA Fender anyday.

I have a Stiletto V, and have owned an American Jazz Deluxe (4 string). Both very nice. for playability and "feel" I'd lean toward the Schecter. As far as tone, I'd pick the jazz for country, blues, jazz, etc. For hard rock, the Schecter has a bit more agressiveness and "edge" you might like (the mid control on the 3 band EQ is killer). As stated above, the best scenario is for you to play both if possible (side by side comparison would be ideal!). Sounds like a win/win either way!

I'd go with what sounds better. Of course what I would do is irrelevant. Do what you would do.

The variables are fairly obvious.

One may play better than the other. Try them both. This probably depends more on the setup than the instrument, though.
One may sound better than the other. Try them both. Remember the audience doesn't really notice, though.
One may look better than the other. Look at them both.
The Fender will have better resale value than the Schecter, probably.
The Fender will get you more gear respect than the Schecter, probably.
The Fender will have more aftermarket modification possibilities.
The Fender may have dead spots in the neck, check carefully.

Stuff like that.

I have a schecter 4, and it's a great bass. Used you can pick them up at really good prices. That said, the main reason to go US Fender is the resale value. There is no question, US Fender will hold its value better. I'm not saying the Fender is or isn't a better bass, they both have their merits.

Cool. Schector probably a little hard to find in store here in NYC. Guitar Center used to have them but both tri state area stores do not have any in stock, bummer.

Must be popular up there. Here in Jacksonville the local GC is rife with 'em.

I may check out the Fender 799.99 Jazz 5 Active Deluxe on the way home today. Don't know though since I can get a used Jazz 5 Amer. for about the same.

Why do that when you can get an American Deluxe Jazz 5 for more than twice as much and have block inlays?
