I know it's not technically a "Tele" bass, but it seems that enough people refer to '51 P-basses by the name that it's pretty much stuck. Beats me why. It's probably the guitarists that do it. | Well it looks pretty modest compared to this: http://www.frettedamericana.com/prod...s-pink-paisley

| | | | If it came to that, I'm a talented enough artist that I can paint the acrylic myself. Of course, it'd probably be more cost effective to wait for the paisley p. |

| | | | Probably, but if you do it yourself you could call it your own! |

| | Bass Is Best | | Join Date: May 2005 Location: Milwaukee, WI | | | I love my pink paisley P-Bass. I got mine off of eBay about 7 years ago. It was NOS at a small music store in Oklahoma. I got it for $450. It's still the one bass in my collection that I get the most compliments from....especially from girls. Here it's pictured with the rest of my Fenders (and a Hofner).

| | | | Unbelievable, I missed the ebay auction.
*forehead slap*
How could I have missed it? I swear to God, I search "fender pink paisley" every other day on the bay. I wish Fender would just reissue these and make life a little simpler.

| | | | FYI for everyone involved in this thread: I bought a '54-style P body and I've been hand-painting the pink paisley design over the past couple of weeks. The back is just about done, and then I've got the front. It's more vivid than just about any other paisley bass I've ever seen.
I'll post pics in the near future. T'will be killer. |

| | | | Paisley P-Bass I acquired a Paisley P-Bass several years ago solely for it's looks. Much to my surprise, I actually like it enough to gig with it occasionally. Very comfortable to perform with; feel of the body and neck, weight. The reverse tuners are unusual (and unnecessary since it's not a true reissue of any sort... more of a hybrid of several P-Basses).
Previous owner put a S-D Quarter Pounder in it... output and noise were louder than the stock unit (which was also included). I changed it again for a Seymour-Duncan Custom Shop stacked humbucker... just don't care for the noise of the single-coil PU live on-stage. I have it wired to a switch for selection between series/parallel, but one can put a coil-tap switch as well if you just need to have the single coil tone.
A friend had an original early 70's Tele Bass (w/ humbucker PU)... nobody liked it! 3-bolt neck was god awful thick, PU had no tone (or positioned wrong), darn thing was HEAVY too! I believe the late 60's models (which included the single-coil and Paisley/Flower Power editions at some point) are better. |

| | | Finished painting the back of my Pink Paisley in progress:
Basswood body from Warmoth. Feels pretty solid despite what many have said about basswood.
Gonna get a new brush today and get to work on the front. Should be a lot easier than the back was. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
