OP when you get to San Fran, smell the benches before you sit down on them. Eh dont smell them, just dont sit on them.

My only hint is skidmarks.

old town music in portland is a good one. They have cool vintage stuff all the time. And dont have an attitude like apple music does. while apple has a good selection they are kind of stuck up.

You'd need to go to downtown Seattle for good seafood, 13 Coins across from SeaTac is pretty good. Scotch and Vine in Des Moines (little south of Seatac) has great food, and there's a couple good places in Burien too.

Yelp usually has good recommendations. I myself like Bai Tong (a thai place) in the mall area east of the airport.

American music in the Fremont area of Seattle for a nice selection of Fender basses. The other week they had a fender custom shop on the wall.

For Seattle food, a simple yet good breakfast staple is The Original Pancake House. (then you are close to american music) just a few minutes away. For lunch, grab some tasty fish and chips at Spuds in west seattle. Mmmm...

If you're cruizing around Seattle, The Trading Musician is worth a look-see too. They don't have a lot of basses, but almost have something interesting to check out. They're up north of the University of Washington.

No but you can take the Lightlink train form the airport to downtown Seattle for $2.50. Bass NW is one block from the Pioneer Square station. Bass heaven

For food it depends on your budget, but here are my recommendations:

Maximillien's in the Market (French)
Il Bistro (Italian)
The Dish (excellent breakfast)

If you like oysters there is a fantastic oyster happy hour at Elliot's at the Pier
For steak to die for I recommend the Metropolitan Grill (sorry to fans or Ruth's, El Gaugo, or the Brooklyn, the Met is the JOINT)

For seafood I dig Ponti's in Ballard, but for a nice view to go with your food there is Salty's in West Seattle and Ray's Boathouse in Ballard out by Golden Gardens (a nice place to visit, btw)

Then there are all the little tucked away places... too many to mention.

Wild Ginger (pan-asian)

Non Food or Music in Seattle: I liked the Theo Chocolate Factory tour much more than Seattle Underground. Fremont is a fun, funky neighborhood that is only somewhat yuppified. The Underground Tour is fun if you get a good group and a sassy guide. They say that the night tours are more bawdy and fun. My group and guide were only "meh".

Food in Seattle: I ADORE Ro Ro's BBQ on the border of Fremont and Wallingford neighborhoods. I live a mile from Phillipe's and J 'n J here in Los Angeles and the L.A Que guys will back me up that that is some of the shizzle and Ro's may even be better.

I didn't go to the yuppie "eatery" places in Belltown but as a you should go there once thing I thought the 5 point cafe (between Bell Town and City Center) was a fun Alt/Punk Pub/Diner with hard liquor and greasy spoon fare. Pretty much regular folks prices.

since you're already down by the airport, when you're done looking at basses, you probably shouldn't leave without visiting the Chiully Museum of Glass on the old waterfront in Tacoma.

Emerald City Music is around the corner from Bass NW. They have more guitars, bt a few overpriced vintage basses too. Enjoy your trip!!

Seattle was great.. Ed at BassNW and Mike Lull were a pleasure to spend time with.. Great customer service !!
Portland was awesome, beautiful place and nice stores to check out.. I have a fellow bassplayer buddy from Buffalo living there who took me around town.. I'm hitting San Francisco tonight and tomorrow.. Spent today at Gelb which was killer.. Ed's great to work with !! Stopped by Zon, but he was not around and the guy there was not intersted in giving me a tour.. I remember Joe from back in the early 80;s in Buffalo before he moved...
