Glad you enjoyed the visit here. You hit the best of the local stores for bass players and Ed is great. He's a big mike lull fan. They were low on lulls last time I was in there. Have been thinking about an m5v at some point but want 34" scale.

I actually swung by Gelb for kicks. Couldnt get any service in the new section. As usual. Shame, I really wanted to try the TH500 with the various 12" cabs.
DID get some help from the guy in the used store. He was a nice guy. I might come back and buy both of those aluminum neck Kramers.
What happened to the synth section? Is it gone? did they move it?
But dude, Ike's Lair is the best sandwich joint in the universe!
I am really glad I discovered that place! It made the whole journey worth it. They have a bajillion sandwiches, and half of them are actually vegetarian. The best part is that they aren't that prissy sunflower seeds and sprouts vegetarian. Well a couple are. However the one I got was the "Carlmont Scots"; Vegan Turkey, HomeMade Poppy Seed Coleslaw, French Dressing, Swiss on a french roll.
And it killed.
I started eating it in front of the place, then quickly walked back to my car to eat it im private. I kind of felt ashamed eatin it out in public where children could see.
Seriously, everyone on the peninsula. go there!

Strange, I always get excellent and knowledgeable service at Gelb. You may have to go to the counter to ask, but when you get past that hurdle, the people are all yours.

I guess I am used to the guitar center constant pestering or the Starving Musician "you good?".
I'm also an ex sales guy myself, so I am not really going out of my way to do a sales guys work for him. I know it's kind of a princess and the pea thing, but I expect goldilocks salesmanship to part my wallet.
Not too pushy, not too aloof.
I was also kind of put off by some of the blatant BS "list" prices they had. Sorry guys, a TH500 does not list for $949!
I stand by my assertion that Ike's is the best sandwich spot on the peninsula.

I you want to get their attention, just go pull down a nice Roscoe or Zon off the wall .

Can't imagine preferring the GC approach. What's the benefit of having some guy who probably doesn't know squat about basses chase you around and pretend to be really interested in your needs?

The Gelb guys know their stuff and they're cool. If you want to check out something, they'll hook you up and generally give you a good deal. Just have to ask...

BTW, list on a TH500 is indeed $949.

Gelb gave me great service, but I believe i did ask for help.. They seem to be pretty busy around there.. As far as prices I thought they were excellent..
