I found the perfect link for you...

Guitar Finshing with Tru-Oil

Step by step directions on a luthier site.

If you want to tint the body here's a great forum thread on using tints with Tru-Oil.

iJazz - This seems to be the finishing secret weapon from all I've read.

Yeah, just remember 5 minutes after your first number you'll be looking to score another.

I hear ya 96tbird!

Technically, I am the founder of the New York Bass Works club. (NYBW) That's my boutique bass of choice. I am slowly, but surely, rounding up fellow users to give numbers to. I am yet to assign any, including to myself!

Squier my yin, NYBW my yang

Funny you should ask.. Believe it or not, the 'inlays' are a couple of stickers! But I'm glad you like it

Dear Sirs and Madams: I humbly submit my entry It`s a work in progress, nearing completion. It started out as a beater Affinity CL find for $40. After filling some major gouges, tons of sanding, paint, new PG, and installed a set of MIM pups. For the neck: sanded, refinished a slightly tinted thin coat satin poly, polished frets, and a headstock veneer - voila !
