Oh btw, if I do get one, I´ll be switching between standard B-G tuning and E-C tuning. | PM 'd & thanks for the kinds words!

Working on a '57 type thing. Not sure if I have a number or not. All cosmetic right now. Planning on upgrading the bridge and getting some vintage pup's.
Btw, if anybody here has VM P maple fretboard neck that they want to trade straight up for my rosewood....that'd be ideal.

Now that I looked at the pic a little closer I can see the grain in the wood. Initially it looked like more a solid or transparent carmel color and I'd never seen that before.
How do you like the pickups on yours compared to those on a CV? I've heard good and bad about the stock Duncan pickups. Overall do you think it compares well with the CV Jazz?

Overall do you think it compares well with the CV Jazz? | The grain appearance & overall color on the VM changes drastically from light (almost solid/no grain like you say) to amber with grain depth depending on how the light is hitting it. As far as the Duncans go - personally, I like them a whole lot. I can't say how it compares against a CV, never played one - the overall TB impression I gather from reading is that it's a matter of slight differences in the hardware, the amount of gloss on the neck & the sound of the pickups - with the VM perhaps being a little more aggressive sounding. I'm sure both are very good choices.

| | | Here's my modded Squier Bronco bought like new for $75
off FleaBay.
Found a cheap pickguard and just cut a pickup ring out
of it and glued it to the stock pickguard. Cost was $11.50.
I have a B&G P bass pickup installed. (Free) I Filled fret
ends and dressed frets. Tuned nut. I installed tuners from
a Peavey Fruy. (Free)
I have this bass playing and sounding real nice for a total
investment of $86.50.
I think it's pretty cool.

seymour duncan's have the best sounding vintage pickup IMO.
or you could go with some '50 RI pickups. |

it should be almost done before christmas, minus a few cosmetic changes.
vm pbass body, vm jazz neck. the blocks and binding help it to stand out i think.
essentially this, but i will have chrome covers as well as a dimarzio split p. then TBer lavmonga made me a "Faker Precision Bass" logo ill add to headstock to complete the '70s vibe.

I'm still trying to figure out which one is a closer sonic reproduction of the P bass sound of the mid to late 50s.
